Free forms in oil--I began these paintings to "free up." Because sculpture requires so much planning and heavy lifting, painting became a way to relax and consider the possibilites. It works the same way that free verse or poetry work as preparation for writing a novel or a non-fiction work. One of the canvases began as a realistic view of the Pacific Grove Lighthouse--but I soon covered it over with bright colors in a totally free style. As you can see, I love a bright, warm palette.
